Hager Group inaugurates one of Europe’s highest-performance test laboratories in Eastern France
Hager Group strengthens its competitiveness with a high-powered test laboratory and the relocation of a production line to Obernai (Eastern France).
A state-of-the-art Hager laboratory in Obernai
Hager Group, a major player in electrotechnical solutions for residential, commercial and industrial buildings, is pursuing its strategy of innovation. The Group has announced the creation of a high-power test laboratory in Obernai, Alsace. Named Taranis, this 16 million euro investment makes it one of the most powerful laboratories in Europe. It is equipped with a 110-ton generator capable of producing a current of 150,000 amperes, enabling Hager to test its products under extreme conditions. This facility will enable validation and qualification tests to be carried out in-house, reducing production lead times. The energy generated during these tests will be used to power other buildings on the site, thus optimizing the Group’s resources.
Strategic relocation from China to Eastern France
At the same time, the Group announced the relocation of a circuit-breaker production line from its Huizhou site in China to Obernai. The move, which cost 11 million euros, is designed to boost local production to meet the growing needs of European markets. This operation is part of a strategy to reduce dependence on Asian sites and optimize the Group’s competitiveness in Europe.
Hager’s strong commitment to innovation and competitiveness
These two initiatives illustrate the Hager Group’s commitment to investing in innovation, industrial autonomy and proximity to its key markets. The Group is thus reinforcing its role as a leader in the electrical engineering sector, while consolidating its position on the European market from the Grand Est thanks to state-of-the-art infrastructures and more local, agile production.
