The expertise and innovation of major companies in Eastern France contributing to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games
On the occasion of the Olympic Games, many companies from Eastern France contributed to the construction of the necessary equipment and infrastructure for this major event.
Back on some non-exhaustive examples of the creativity of our territory on this occasion!
Eastern France dresses up the Olympics!
In the Aube, it is the know-how and historical expertise around knitwear and textiles that are honored. First through Tismail, one of the last French manufacturers of socks. Based in Troyes, the company was chosen to equip volunteers for the Olympic Games. But also of course Le Coq Sportif has become the official outfitter of the French delegation for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. To meet this order, the company had to expand its plant in Romilly-sur-Seine (Aube) by an additional 3 300 m2. It is also textile know-how, but this time from Vosges that LVMH called upon for the production of the polos of the medal winners in the Duval factory in Saint Dié des Vosges.
Eastern France builds the Olympics!
Also located in the Vosges, several companies were involved in the design and construction of the Olympic infrastructure. Framatec, a specialist in metal frames based in Dinozé, designed and built the grandstands of the Olympic Aquatic Centre. The Morlot Group, specialized in the construction and wood industry, has participated in several projects for the Olympic Games. Among them, the stadium Yves-du-Manoir will host the field hockey events, the Olympic village and swimming pool and the nautical base of Martigues. The Alsatian company FL Structure has also been extensively involved in the production of monumental scenes at different Olympic venues but also at the Trocadero. The company Mathis, also from Alsace, specialized in wooden construction, contributed to the construction of 13 infrastructures on its part. A particularly remarkable feat to mention for the wooden structure of the aquatic centre and its undulating roof in the shape of a wave, near the Stade de France, covering almost 100m without any pole.
On the Ardennes side, Tarkett produced coatings for training centres in the regions. In the Moselle, the ArcelorMittal Group, of course, has been renowned for its production of the Olympic torch but also of the giant Olympic rings installed on the Eiffel Tower and folded, welded and painted in the Vosges. This monumental work whose iron is also from Eastern France would have a vocation to remain in place at the end of the games, as a legacy of this great moment!
Finally, in terms of mobility, the Meurthe-et-Moselle company UrbanLoop is experimenting, on the occasion of the Olympics, with its brand new autonomous, decarbonised and AI-driven rail transport that connects several Olympic sites located in Saint-Quentin in Yvelines.
Eastern France livens up the Olympics!
From the Alsatian teams of the Aquatique Show, which unfortunately had to reduce the sail of their performance due to rain, to the company Croisieurope which made available its crews and a boat on the Seine, many companies from Eastern France contributed to the success of the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The Olympic cauldron is also not without links to Eastern France. It is indeed the Alsatian company Guillet that manufactured its structure while the company Aérophile imagined its balloon, largely inspired by that of its Parc du Petit Prince, also located in Alsace.
Finally, if the beer is already flowing after the first French medals, it is also partly thanks to Eastern France. Brasseries Kronenbourg and their non-alcoholic brand Tourtel Twist are official partners of the Paris Games. These are 60 sites of the Olympics that are supplied directly from their brewery in Obernai. And if Paris sparkles during this great moment, it is thanks to the carbon dioxide from the methanization units of Eastern France and captured by the company L2PI from Meuse. The SME, the leader of gas for pressure drawing in France, will thus allow the public of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris to consume a small foam with less environmental impact!
