The University of Lorraine joins Udice, the alliance of French universities specialized in the search for excellence

On 19 June 2024, the ten founding members of Udice voted unanimously to expand their alliance to three new members. Among these new members: the Université de Lorraine located in the heart of Eastern France.

Udice, an alliance around research and innovation

Udice is an alliance of French universities federated around the search for excellence, efficient teaching and innovation. Its aim is to promote higher education and research institutions at national, European and international levels.

This enlargement brings to fruition the alliance’s project to evolve the French higher education and research system. The ambition is to respond to contemporary challenges and to simplify interactions between actors.

Héléne Boulanger, President of the University of Lorraine, explains that she shares with Udice “the vision of a university with strong research, at the best international level, which nurtures a dynamic system for the benefit of training and innovation”.

The search for excellence at the heart of the University of Lorraine’s dynamism

Its dynamism places the University of Lorraine as one of the best in the world. The Shanghai ranking places it in the top 15 of French universities and in the top 250 worldwide.

The University of Lorraine covers, in fact, all scientific fields in terms of research. It serves the production and sharing of new knowledge and technological innovations. It has established partnerships with major research organisations and is involved in regional competitiveness hubs. Its location in Eastern France, close to Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg, also allows it to develop numerous cross-border research collaborations.

Present in two metropolises, eleven cities and agglomerations of its territory, the University of Lorraine thus allows nearly 60.000 students to benefit from its excellence.
