Activities developped

SPARTHA Medical develops multifunctional coatings with anti-infectious and anti-inflammatory properties. This innovative coating aims to eradicate nosocomial infections and antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

There are two areas of application for the application of these innovative anti-infectious and anti-inflammatory coatings:

• implantable medical devices: in this case, the antimicrobial coatings are personalized to the surface of the implantable devices. They reduce the risk of infection by inhibiting microbial proliferation on the surface. This coating can be placed on an implant, then sterilized, conditioned and stored for several years. It remains effective at the time of implantation for several days while preventing the growth of bacteria. This innovative system produces a lasting antibacterial effect on a pattern of recurrent infection in vitro. It has thus demonstrated a strong potential to fight several series of antibiotic-resistant infections.
• surfaces to be sterilised: in this case, the coating is sprayed completely free of alcohol and chlorinated derivatives. It is a promising alternative to hydroalcoholic gels. SPARTHA Medical’s innovation is based on natural polymers, which makes it biocompatible, and applies to all types of surfaces. The spray is based on components of natural origin and protects against bacterial infections, including strains resistant to antibiotics, without affecting their primary function.
